The all-electric Rimac C_Two is much faster than you would imagine. The speeds are serious. This car wears big-boy pants from the same store as Bugatti and Koenigsegg. But it all began with a blown motor.
In high school, Mate Rimac popped the engine in his E30 BMW. Instead of rebuilding it he installed an electric motor. After a year of tinkering the car was still too slow, so he found some people to help him make it faster. Eventually, the little BMW was making 600 electric horsepower and 900 Nm of torque. It went from 0-60MPH in 3.3 seconds and set records at drag strips and half-mile events. But that car was no longer just a fun project; it was the beginning.
Mate believed electrification was the future of automobiles and he wanted to help shape it. He assembled a team and founded Rimac Automobili in his native country of Croatia.
Their cars are nothing short of astonishing, possessing power and speed you can hardly believe – The Rimac C_Two is the pinnacle of their efforts. Click play to see what we mean or view the original post on Instagram.
